Teacher falls prey to Macau Scam

SIBU: A 35-year-old female teacher was made RM6,500 poorer after falling victim to a phone scam.

According to her, a stranger claiming to be a police officer from Penang Police Headquarters telephoned her on Sept 17 and told her the police were going to arrest her for her alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.

Despite denying any involvement, the caller continued to pester her and told her she needed to pay RM12,000 to settle the case.

She bargained the amount to RM6,500.

After banking in the money, she sent attempted to send the bank slip but the phone line of the stranger was no longer in service.

She has lodged a police report.
