The replacement generator set arrived at the school yesterday in time for UPSR.

MARUDI: Authorities of SK Sungai Arang in Beluru were relieved following the arrival of a new generator set on time for the start of the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination today.

Sources told The Borneo Post that the new generator was delivered yesterday as a replacement for one which was destroyed in a fire last week, leaving the school with a poorly-maintained backup unit which could only run for a few hours.

There was initial fear that the replacement generator might not arrive on time, jeopardising those sitting for the examation.

A distress call was sent out to the State Education Department and district education office immediately following the incident on Sept 18, when a watchman snuffed out the flames after noticing smoke coming from the generator room while patrolling the compound.
