SIBU: The setting-up of the Farley Police Beat Base near Farley Supermarket here is a good example of the community working closely together with the police to fight crime.
District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit in praising the company said Farley’s effort in setting up the facility speaks volumes of its care for the safety of the community.
“Such commendable initiative by Farley has created a living environment that is safe and provides peace-of-mind not only to those living within Farley’s area, but areas in Salim in general,” he said during the official opening and handing over of the beat base yesterday.
He added that even though the crime rate in Sibu is under control, the community should never take things for granted but instead continue to work closely with the police.
Earlier, Farley Group of Companies general manager Eijing Lau said the beat base will serve to foster closer ties between the police and the public.
“Besides providing convenience to those who require police assistance, the beat base enables the public to shop and live in a safer and more comfortable environment, thus improving the quality and standard of living,” he said.
