SK Serian to have school hall soon

KUCHING: SK Serian is set to have a school-cum-assembly hall in six months’ time.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, when revealing this said the school hall was one of the 27 projects proposed and approved under his rural transformation programme (RTP) this year.

He said he had witnessed the representatives from the Public Work Department, the schools and contractor signed all the necessary documents recently.

According to him, the construction of the much awaited RM180,000 school hall is expected to start right after the UPSR examination.

“The hall will be used to hold school assembly and other activities such as games and festival programmes,” he said.

John said the hall would benefit 586 pupils from pre-school up to primary 6, 49 teachers and 13 non-teaching staff at the school.

SK Serian caters for pupils from Kampung Seroban, Ranchan, Munggu Limo, Hilir, Hulu, Taman Anggerik, Kakai, Pasir and around Serian town.

John said apart from the school hall, his annual RTP fund had also been allocated for repairs or upgrading of retaining wall, school fields, house of worship, drainage system, footpaths, agriculture and kampong roads, bridges, community halls, futsal courts and water pipes for treated supply.

Overall, he was satisfied with the implementation of the RTP projects in his constituency and hoped every project would be completed on schedule.

Each Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) assemblyman is allocated RM5 million a year in RTP fund to implement various projects within their constituency.
