DALAT: The proposed coastal roads to link small settlements in the rural areas would give the community the opportunity to improve and uplift their livelihood, says Assistant Minister for Coastal Roads Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

Julaihi in a press release pointed this out during a working visit to the coastal road construction site in Jalan Baharu Kampung Tanam-Medong here yesterday.

The 8.3km road project costing RM32 million  is being constructed in stages and set to link Kampung Medong with Kampung Balan.

The project expected to be completed by Nov 12 this year includes the construction of five bridges across rivers in the area.

Works on the road project commenced in 2014 but it was categorised as a ‘sick project’ and was tendered out again last year.

Meanwhile, Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that the contractors should understand the specific conditions of each area in order to avoid any problem in the future.

Fatimah who is also Dalat assemblywoman also hoped that the community living around the project area to be patient as some of the villages are still not accessible by road.
