Efforts to nullify PKR membership in Julau upsets Larry

KUCHING: Julau MP Larry Sng has criticised PKR Sarawak chairman Baru Bian and his supporters for trying to nullify what has been reported as party members in its Julau branch.

It was reported in The Borneo Post recently that the number of PKR Julau members rose from a reported 603 on June 26 this year to a staggering 13,000 just a day later.

Larry was quoted in the report that the rise could be that many people now feel they are able to openly declare their support and join the party following the change in federal government.

Larry, who is vying for the PKR Julau chairman post, said Baru and his supporters should not preoccupy their time and efforts to nullify Julau’s party membership.

“Instead they should set their priorities on tackling people’s issues and address matters like corruption which has been endemic in Sarawak,” wrote Larry in his latest Facebook posting.

Larry noted that it has been five months since the 14th General Election (GE14) and no serious action has been taken by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) nor PKR Sarawak leadership in pursuing corruption cases in the state.

“To make matters worse, even Baru Bian’s own political secretary has been implicated recently of buying votes for projects. Despite this, no action has been taken by Baru Bian.

“If the current PKR leadership in Sarawak continues like this, we are no different from BN and we will lose our support and credibility in a short span of time.

“The time for basking in our victory is over. We must deliver on our promises and fight for the people,” noted Larry.

Larry is also going for one of the party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) positions in the party.

On Sept 2, he organised the ‘#Reformasi20Tahun’ event in Kuching in support of Rafizi Ramli, who is contesting for the PKR deputy president post.

He joined PKR shortly after winning the Julau seat in the GE14 in May.
