KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) will be holding its 33rd annual congress from November 15 to 17, said its secretary general Datuk Johnny Mositun.

Mositun said this year, there would a slight change to the congress’ program as the opening would be held at Dewan Hakka in Tanjung Lipat, Likas at 3pm on November 15 and it would be followed by the ‘Malam Bersatu’ dinner at the same venue at 7pm that evening.

Party president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan would be officiating at the opening ceremony, he said, adding that deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili would be addressing the delegates at the ‘Malam Bersatu’ dinner.

As Pairin has indicated his desire to retire and not contest for the president’s post, his address at the opening ceremony will be the last as PBS’ top leader.

According to Mositun, PBS Youth and Wanita movements will be having their meetings at Dewan Hongkod Koisaan and ITCC respectively on Nov 16.

The congress proper would be held on Nov 17 at Dewan Hongkod Koisaan from 8am onwards, he disclosed, adding that 1,500 delegates from 53 PBS divisions were expected to attend the meeting.

“As this year is also the party’s election year, I wish to announce that nominations to all posts will be opened on October 15 and the closing date for submission is Oct 30,” said Mositun who is also the Election Commission chairman.

Other than the party elections, the delegates are also expected to table some resolutions for the Supreme Council to consider.
