Sarawak State Library signs MoA with consultants on construction of archive building

KUCHING: Sarawak State Library and the consultants of State Archive Building signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) yesterday.

The consultants included PU Architects Sdn Bhd, LT Quantity Surveyor Sdn Bhd, Consultant CH Engineering Sdn Bhd, Geomatics Survey Consultants and PCS Konsultant Sdn Bhd.

Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Hamid Bugo, chairman for the board of management of Sarawak State Library, said these selected consultants are to focus on the planning and implementation aspects of the project that produces high quality buildings.

“Construction of archive building is important for preserving archival materials, records of the state government and the history of Sarawak.

“The project is expected to produce buildings that will not only inspire the public, but also of high quality,” he was quoted as saying in a media release.

Hamid thanked Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for having approved the project.

He also suggested that the consultants take the selection of contractors and staff for this project seriously.

Among those at the signing were Dr Abdul Rahman Deen and Dr Rita Manurung who are members of board of management, chief executive officer of Sarawak State Library Rashidah Bolhassan; deputy chief executive officer (service) who is also the project coordinator Arpah Adenan; one of the consultants Dr David Jones   and representatives from Public Works Department (JKR), State Planning Unit and senior officers of Sarawak State Library.
