Sarawak State Library to hold Makersmeet 2018 on Oct 21-22

KUCHING: Sarawak State Library is promoting the maker movement in Sarawak by focusing on building networks of makers and entrepreneurs.

The movement which started in August 2016 has received overwhelming response from the community here with its Makersmeet 2017 getting about 1,200 participants, said a media release yesterday.

It promoted the maker movement in Sarawak, focusing not just on building networks of makers and entrepreneurs but highlighting local talents as well.

This year’s Makersmeet is scheduled to take place at the State Library here from 9am to 5pm on Oct 21 and 22.

The two-day programme aims to explore hands-on and fun activities such as woodworks, arts and craft, 3D printing, drone racing and demonstration, paper quilting activities, STEM – Building a Tower Challenge, augmented reality demonstration, soldering, hot wheels collector exhibitions and demonstration, Air Brush Gundam, Jong racing and demo, makers workshop and cosplay costume contest.

It also serves as a platform to expose future generation and nurture their interest to become creative innovators in the future.

Many makers of various ages, interest and background covering electronics, arts and crafts, student projects, kit makers, textiles, arduino projects, robotic and other science projects are expected at the event.
