Three charged with causing commotion, disorderly conduct

MIRI: Three individuals including a father and son pleaded not guilty in the magistrate’s court yesterday to a charge of causing commotion and disorderly conduct at a police station on Oct 11.

Lagil Ladin, 54, Johnny Madang, 33 and Augustine Lagil, 26, from Quadruplex Permyjaya here were charged under Section 160 of the Penal Code and faced a jail term of up to six months or fined RM1,000, or both upon
conviction.

Based on facts of the case, the trio were accused of quarelling and causing a commotion in the compound of Lutong Police Station at 6.05pm on Oct 11.

The three accused also faced another charge under Section 90 of the Police Act 1967 for disorderly conduct.

For the offence, they can be fined up to RM500 or jail up to six months or both upon conviction.

They allegedly commited the offence at the same place and time.

After hearing their not guilty plea, Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa set Nov 19 for case management.

Each of the accused was ordered to be freed on RM1,500 bail with two local sureties while awaiting the date.
