KUCHING: The BB Love Box project is coming back for its seventh edition from Oct 27 to Dec 7 with the aim of spreading joy to the less fortunate in conjunction with the Christmas season.

Organised by The Boys Brigade Sarawak District, the project aims to promote the spirit of community service among the Boys Brigade members and share the joy of the Christmas season with the needy irrespective of race and religion.

Companies of the Boys Brigade throughout Sarawak will be taking part in this year’s project compared with past years which only saw Kuching company taking part.

With 27,000 pieces of gift already distributed during past years, this year’s project targets to collect 15,000 pieces of gifts for distribution to the less fortunate.

“I hope that the public will give their strong support towards the initiative in fulfilling the wishes of the beneficiaries,” Sarawak BB Love Box organising chairman Sim Tze Sian said at a press conference held at Plaza Merdeka shopping mall here yesterday.

BB Love Box beneficiaries are identified with help from Ministry of Welfare and social organisations such as homes for the elderly, orphanages and dialysis centres.

Members of the public who wish to donate gifts can visit any collection booths set up to request a wish card and purchase according to the gift category written on the card.

The gifts collected will be distributed to the respective beneficiaries from Dec 12 to 20.

BB Love Box collection booths will be set up at Vivacity Megamall, Plaza Merdeka and Crown Square here (Kuching Oct 27 to Dec 2), Farley Supermarket (Sibu Nov 11 to Dec 2), Bintang Megamall (Miri Nov 1 to Dec 7), Parkcity Mall and Time Square Mall (Bintulu Nov 1 to Dec 2) and Limbang Plaza (Limbang Nov 1 to Nov 21).

An opening ceremony of the project will be held at Plaza Merdeka shopping mall here on Oct 27 with Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah expected to officiate at the event.
