Pandelela to graduate from University Malaya on Tuesday

KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak’s national diving icon Pandelela Rinong will be among 5,279 graduands to receive their scrolls at 2018 University Malaya Convocation on Tuesday (Oct 23).

Pandelela, Malaysia’s first female Olympic medallist, will be awarded the Bachelor of Sport Management Science.

In a statement issued by University Malaya here, Pandelela said the teaching staff and coursemates were very helpful in guiding her through the various subjects.

“Struggling with assignments and classes while making time to prepare for diving competition at various levels forced me to manage my time wisely,” said the 25-year-old who won a bronze at the 2012 London Games and a silver at the 2016 Rio Games.

Other national athletes who are also graduating from University Malaya this year are hockey player Mohd Fitri Saari, taekwondo exponent Ryan Chong Wy Lunn and futsal player Nurul Atiqah Zaifulizan. — Bernama
