MIRI: Proton has approved the status of 105 outlets nationwide into sales, services, spare parts and collision repairs (3S) / sales, services, spare parts and spray paint (4S) centres.

Proton Edar Sdn Bhd general manager of network planning Dr Ho Tuck Sum said following this approval, the national automaker had reached 96 per cent of its intended target for this year.

“Proton is committed to fulfilling at least 109 of its outlets nationwide to have 3S/4S status.

“To date, we have achieved 105 approvals for outlets to have 3S/4S status. This means that we have (achieved) 96 per cent of the intended target for the year,” he spoke at the launch of Syarikat JL Motors Sdn Bhd’s newly-upgraded 3S One-Stop Proton Centre in Piasau Industrial Estate yesterday.

According to Ho, the upgrading of 3S status for the outlet serves to meet the standard requirements of a new Proton outlet.

In this regard, he lauded the effort to renovate and upgrade the outlet towards ensuring that Proton dealers would be able to move forward, in tandem with the automaker’s initiatives and roadmap for the future.

“The dealers are intensifying efforts to revamp these outlets. Many have chosen to upgrade their existing 3S/4S outlets to meet the standard requirements. This is also (implemented) in preparation for the impending launch of Proton X70 in the market, as well as the coming models.

“Outlet upgrades are important to show Proton is serious about rebranding itself in the market and becoming a serious player. However, we are also very aware that having a new façade is just one aspect – other important criteria like sales and services, as well as a person’s likeability, are also the pull-factors,” he said.

Additionally, Ho said having skilled technicians would gain a great amount of trust from customers.

He pointed out the importance for businessmen and investors alike to keep abreast with the developments in the market and also to keep up with the modern-day customers’ needs.

“For us to stay in the game and regain market traction, Proton needs to evolve and grow its business the way a modern-day automotive business does, as expected by the consumers.

“Looking at developments within and around Proton, be rest assured that with continuous planning and great teamwork, we are confident that Proton would be able to improve its branch perception in the market and to be better than its current results.”

The new 3S outlet will serve as one-stop centre offering a comfortable coffee area, a children’s corner, customer lounge as well as spacious showroom – all to allow customers to move around freely and have sufficient space to interact with the sales staff and also to view the Proton models.

Later at the same function, there was a presentation of new Proton vehicle to Etika Executive Auto’s owner Andy Tinggang Emang.

Syarikat JL Motors managing director and chief executive officer William Willy Lau Sie Seng and the company’s shareholder Datin Sri Anne Hii Chui Hung were also present.
