MIRI: Sarawak Billiards & Snooker Sports Federation (SBSSF) has expressed optimism that the victory by Malaysian snooker Moh Keen Hoo at the recent Bob Hawke AC Australian Snooker Open 2018 could inspire more Malaysian players to work hard and aspire to greater heights of achievement.

Its vice president David Tan said Moh had worked very hard and defied all odds to win the international title.

Penang-born Moh lifted the champions trophy and pocketed A$5,000 in the tournament held in Reventon, New South Wales from Oct 18 to 21.

Tan said SBSSF had been planning and implementing snooker development programmes in Sarawak for many years.

These included funding Sarawak players to compete in tournaments in Sabah, West Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.

He urged SBSSF members to continue efforts to promote the sport through providing good facilities and organising regular competitions to keep local players active.

“At the same time, SBSSF aims to create awareness on this healthy sport and attract more billiards enthusiasts to play the sport,” Tan added.
