MIRI: The Boys’ Brigade, Sarawak District 2018 BB Love Box programme is targeting 15,000 gifts this year to bring the tally to 42,000 since it began six years ago.

The BB Love Box began in 2012 with a target of 2,500 gifts and it gained traction with  27,000 gifts which were distributed to those in need in the past six years.

The project to be held from Oct 27 to Dec 7 is supported by it official Radio Broadcaster: TEAFm with TeaFM Addy, Joyce, TP as ambassadors.

According to the organiser, the Boys’ Brigade Sarawak District has the same vision and in February this year, the different companies of The Boys’ Brigade in Sarawak have decided to work together and carry out BB Love Box as a part of their activities to care for the community.

This community project coordinates the collection and distribution of gifts to people in need during Christmas, regardless of race or religion.

The beneficiaries are the rural areas identified by the Ministry of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, and social organisations such as homes for the elderly, orphanages, and dialysis centres.

The Miri collection counters at Bintang Megamall are open from 10am to 9pm from Nov 1-7, together with counters in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Limbang at their respective dates. BB Love Box  project  helps to fulfill the children’s Christmas wishes through donation of gifts.

The gift categories are 2kg Milo or 10kg white rice, while the gifts for children are stationery and school bags. The donated Milo and rice are distributed to families and senior citizens, and the expiry date of the food must be at least six months.

Those interested in donating gifts can visit the collection booth and request for a wish card in the wish tree. They can then proceed to the store to purchase the stated gift written on the card and send it back to the collection booth. Wrapping is optional.

The Miri leg opening ceremony will be held on Nov 3 at Bintang Megamall here. Gifts collected would be sent to the respective recipients on Dec 12-20.
