Diabetes Malaysia Miri to mark World Diabetes Day

MIRI: Diabetes Malaysia Miri branch will mark World Diabetes Day at Bintang Megamall here with various programmes such as aerobic exercise, dancing and singing performances from 10am to 4pm this Sunday.

The activities are supported by Bintang Megamall.

According to its branch chairwoman, Ting Chiew Moi, booths offering free health screening would be set up at the venue to enable the public to have their blood sugar level, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) checked by volunteering medical assistants.

“The event is meant mainly to educate members of the public on the risk and danger of diabetes, the preventive measures and importance of learning how to take care of oneself as a diabetic

“Three of Malaysia’s renowned mando-pop singers will  perform to enliven the atmosphere, Ting said during a courtesy call on mayor Adam Yii at his office here recently to specifically invite him to the event.

Among the participants will be Miri Polyclinic, Miri Senior Citizen Centre, T-Home Music Studio, Broadway Dance Studio, Speed Fitness Miri and Warmonger Gym.

Special gifts will be presented to various agencies which have helped the association in promoting diabetes awareness campaign in the community.
