KUCHING: Persatuan Tenis Bumiputera Sarawak (PTBS) retained their title at the recent Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) Tennis Invitational at the club premises. They beat KGS Red 2-1 in the final of the eight-team competition which included PDRM, SLTA, Persatuan Tenis Kota Samarahan, MRs A and MRs B.

A total of 75 players took part in the tournament hosted by KGS. PTBS, who beat SLTA in the semi-finals, walked off with RM600 LEA goods voucher.

SLTA and MRs A finished third and fourth.

The 2nd edition of the event was officiated by KGS deputy president and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Morshidi Ghani.

He expressed the hope that the tournament would attract more club members to take up sport and help to promote local tennis. He added that KGS will look into the possibility of re-surfacing the remaining two courts so that KGS can be one of the venues to hold tennis competitions in Kuching.

Organising chairman Yakop Jalel is looking forward to more teams in next year’s event.

He thanked tournament director Francis Foo, the organising committee and KGS Activity staff for making the championship a success.
