KUCHING: Ministry of Utilities has launched a Additional or Late Applicant Fund (ALAF) early this year in line with the state’s target of 100 per cent electricity coverage by 2025.
Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the new programme is meant for individuals who have yet to be connected to the power grid.
“There are two categories for ALAF. One is for those who are left out of the Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) and the other category is for those who have purchased their houses after the RES was been implemented.
“They can apply for ALAF through the respective village heads who will then submit the applications to the District Office (DO). DO will then forward the applications to the Ministry of Utilities,” he said when responding to a supplementary question by Lo Khere Chiang (SUPP-Batu Kitang) in the august House today.
Dr Rahman added that the ministry had received a total of 4,000 ALAF applications up to last month.
