Operations against illegal 4D activities to continue, police assure

KUCHING: The police force in Sarawak are committed in fighting  illegal 4D activities, so far recording 1,383 successful operations netting seizures of RM539,167 this year.

State CID chief SAC Denis Leong said that of that figure, 341 operations were conducted in Kuching, 293 in Miri, 202 in Padawan, Sibu (107), Bintulu (65),  Kota Samarahan (56), Bau (51), Sarikei (48), Serian (44), Sri Aman (30), Limbang (26), Mukah (20), Maradong (16), 1Song (15), Marudi (14), Kanowit (12), Dalat (11), 10 each in Lubuk Antu, Lawas and  Kapit, 9 each in Betong, Simunjan and Saratok, Julau (8), Matu Daro (4),  Lundu (3), Tatau (2) and Belaga (1).

“With the assistance of Sarawak Energy Berhad, a total of 159 illegal 4D outlets throughout the state had their electricity supply disconnected,” said Leong in a statement issued yesterday.

He said the co-operation started last August, and the police will continue to monitor  premises that have been raided to prevent reconnection and resumption of the illegal activities.

He added that the police are seeking more information on illegal gambling activities and gave assurance that the identities of those who give information will be kept strictly confidential.

“The CID Hotline 082-274213 set up to cater for information on gambling activities has received a total of 1,209 information and 975 resulted in successful raid and arrest.”

Meanwhile, the police  held a meeting yesterday afternoon with representatives from the 4D companies on matters related to illegal 4D activities.

The meeting at  the Criminal Investigation Department at IPK Sarawak focused on areas of cooperation. The companies include Magnum, Sports Toto and Cash Sweep operators.
