RM12.6 mln for school uniforms, stationery

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will continue providing assistance such as school uniforms and stationery to ease the burden of families, especially lower income households.

Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal said that the government would allocate RM12.6 million to continue the programme next year.

About 276,000 school pupils in 1,072 primary schools in Sabah are expected to benefit from the programme.

Additionally, the government also allocated RM51.30 million for welfare assistance to senior citizen, single mothers, orphans, poor and needy, the disabled and disabled patients or patients with chronic illness.

The allocation will benefit some 59,000 people.
