KUCHING: The 2018 Kuching Taekwondo & Self-Defence Club (WTF) Invitation Taekwondo Kyorugi Championship attracted 331 exponents from various universities, colleges, primary and secondary schools here.
The tournament was held at the Sarawak SUKMA Taekwondo Training Center, Petra Jaya here recently.
The one-day kyorugi (sparring) tournament, which is sanctioned by the state body Persatuan Taekwondo Negeri Sarawak (WTF) and supported by Nestle Products Sdn Bhd was organised and hosted by the Kuching Taekwondo & Self-Defence Club (WTF); and technically assisted by the State technical chairman Tan Check Joon and some senior instructors/black belt holder(s).
President of Persatuan Taekwondo Negeri Sarawak (WTF) Azizul Annuar Adenan Said it was indeed heartening to see so many young enthusiastic taekwondo members from various schools and 331 members from area Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Bau, Lundu and Sematan compete in this club level tournament.
“I am sure through this event, we will be able to identify potentials and ultimately to groom them as champions at higher level tournament like the state championship, the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and National Championship, just to name a few,” he said.
