Lawas Bomba saves two women stranded by floods

Lawas Bomba personnel using a boat to transfer the flood victims to the main road after they had become trapped in their car during a flood at Kampung Siang-Siang, Lawas, last night.

LAWAS: The quick actions of the Lawas Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has saved two women who were trapped in their car due to floods, at Kampung Siang-Siang, Trusan Lawas, last night.

Lawas Bomba Chief , Zaki Husin said the victims were moved out to safety at 8.48pm from the one-metre deep flood water that had caused their car to stall

“Firefighters brought the victims out of the main road by boat,” he said when contacted a while ago.

He said the six firefighters rushed to scene some 13 kilometers away, in a vehicles with a boat for the special humanitarian operation.

At around 6.40 pm yesterday, Bomba personnel led by Senior officer II Mohd Ikhwan
also monitored the flood situation in the nearby Kampung Batu Mulong Lawas.

“Upon arrival, we found that there is no more flood as the flood water had completely receded,” adding that Bomba came to conduct the inspection upon receiving information from the villagers on the flood affecting their areas.
