Ministers’ pay cut to remain in force — Guan Eng

KUALA LUMPUR: The 10 per cent salary cut for all Cabinet ministers will remain in force, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said yesterday.

He said the collection from the salary cut will not be channelled into Tabung Harapan Malaysia (THM), which will be closed on Dec 31 this year, but straight into the government coffers.

“The salary cut will continue unless it is decided otherwise. Unless we receive any instruction, the salaries of ministers will still be cut,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Lim was responding to queries on whether the salary cut for ministers will stop after the THM account is closed.

THM was established by the Pakatan Harapan government on May 30 to receive and account for donations and contributions from individuals and companies to assist the government to address the country’s debt. — Bernama
