KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will not be submitting any new name to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the event of a Cabinet reshuffle.

Its de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said it was up to Dr Mahathir to decide on the matter but the party would not be proposing any new name.

He said he had also not been informed on the need to submit any new name from PKR.

“I am just a member of Parliament. On Cabinet reshuffle, you should ask the prime minister.

“No one in PKR has alerted me on the need for change or to submit new names. So far as it stands, there is no change,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby here yesterday.

Of late, speculation was rife that there would be a Cabinet reshuffle, following criticism against the performance of a number of ministers and also seen as not being in sync with the political manoeuvring following the results of the PKR elections.

On Tuesday, Dr Mahathir who is in Singapore attending the 33rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings, reportedly said that he was open to a Cabinet reshuffle proposal and did not dismiss its possibility if PKR proposed any new name. — Bernama
