Pahang MACC detains Youth and Sports employee

KUANTAN: The Pahang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained an employee of the State Youth and Sports office to assist investigation into an allegation of breach of trust on rent collection.

Pahang MACC Mohamad Fauzi Husin said the 34-year-old suspect was picked up from his office in Cameron Highlands yesterday morning.

“The suspect is believed to be have misappropriated RM2,250 which is the rent for Complex Rakan Muda  Hall in Bera district from a furniture company for exhibition and sales.

“The incident is believed to have taken place around February and March 2017 when the suspect was working in Bera,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

Mohamad Fauzi said initial investigations was on the claims that the suspect was using his position to accept bribes but MACC found the element of misappropriation in the case.

He added the arrest was made under MACC Act 2009 and the suspect maybe brought to the Kuantan Sessions Court tomorrow to be charged. — Bernama
