SMSU members to continue serving public

SIBU: Members of Sarawak Medical Services Union (SMSU) will continue to give quality health service to the public at health facilities across Sarawak, said deputy president Omar Bahrein Unin.

Speaking at a seminar themed ‘Moving towards quality civic service’ at Sibu Hospital recently, he said SMSU urged all health service personnel especially SMSU members to always focus on the duties entrusted by the government when delivering service to the people.

“Everyone desires best medical service and SMSU is aware of such expectation among members of the public,” he said.

He reiterated that as personnel rendering health service to the people, high commitment is required from them.

“SMSU understands you are facing challenges in discharging your duties,” he told them.

Omar also said SMSU will continue to give union members the encouragement to ensure that they are responsible when carrying out their duties.

“We want you to be diligent and trustworthy. We expect you to work with integrity to achieve service quality desired by the government and people,” he added.

On the seminar, he said it was SMSU’s initiative to enhance the work attitude of those n the medical field.

“We will hold similar seminars in all our 10 branches namely Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Limbang, Miri, Samarahan, Sentosa, Bintulu and Serian,” he said.

About 120 union members and Sibu Hospital staff attended the recent seminar at Sibu Hospital.

Sibu Hospital director Dr Ngian Hie Ung officiated at the event.

Also present were Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) secretary-general Adnan Mat, who was also the invited speaker and Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) Sarawak chairman Mohd Ibrahim Hamid.
