MIRI: Another round of free rabies vaccination held here yesterday saw a total of 192 dogs receive their anti-rabies shot.

The one-day programme, organised by the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), was held from 9am to 4pm at Dewan SUPP in Tukau, Dewan SJK(C) Chung Hua Bakam, and Miri Indoor Stadium.

The team at Dewan SUPP in Tukau recorded the highest number of dogs vaccinated – 77 in total – while Miri Indoor Stadium recorded the lowest at 46. Dewan SJK (C) Chung Hua Bakam saw 69 dogs being vaccinated.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also Senadin assemblyman, and Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting were among those who took part in the programme.

Meanwhile, senior assistant veterinary officer Zulkifli Stephen reminded those who missed the chance to vaccinate their dogs yesterday to do so at the DVS office at Pelita Commercial Centre, which operates from 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays.

Alternatively, they can also participate in the upcoming free mass rabies vaccination programme, which will take place at three designated locations in Baram – Long Miri on Nov 21 and 22, Uma Bawang (Nov 23 and 24) and Long Tepen on Nov 25.
