Uggah paying his last respects the late Gala Raut.

MIRI: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas came to Miri to pay his last respects to the late Gala Raut at the latter’s funeral service at Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Airport Road Church here earlier this morning.

Uggah, who arrived at about 9am, was welcomed by Gala’s wife Damaris Isak and eldest son Datuk Gerawat Gala who is the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) deputy speaker. Uggah was accompanied by Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, PBB youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu, Miri mayor Adam Yii, Federation of Orang Ulu Association of Malaysia (Forum) president Antonio Khati Galis, former deputy state secretary Datu Ose Murang, Rurum Kelabit Sarawak president Dr Philip Raja and Berawan Sarawak Association president Datin Catherine Awing Wan.

The burial will be held at BEM Miri Cemetery Lusut after the funeral service.

Gala passed away at the age of 81 at Columbia Asia Hospital around 1.40am on Sunday.

He left behind three children and five grandchildren apart from Damaris Isak@Sinah Laba Ayu.

Two wakes were held at Ah Min Funeral Services Centre here on Sunday and last night prior to the funeral service today.
