KUCHING: Former Sarawak defenders Hairol Mokhtar and Ramesh Lai Ban Huat are among the big names expected to play for Kuching FA next season.

Apart from the duo, several former seniors who are taking part in Kuching FA’s trial session since Monday are also eager to join the squad.

Among them are Dzulazlan Ibrahim, Mazwandi Zakeria, Hafis Saperi, Hafiz Abu Bakar and Alif Hassan.

Assistant manager Iswandi Ali Hassan when met at Padang C, Petra Jaya yesterday said the state former players are welcomed to play for the Kuching FA.

“We have no problem of signing them. We need experienced players to take on the challenge of the squad next year where we aim to improve on our achievement,” he said.

Iswandi stressed that Kuching FA should form a stronger squad if their application to join the Premier League next year is approved by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

In fact, he did not rule out the possibility of signing import players if Kuching FA are granted a spot in the nation’s second-tier league.

“It will be a great honour for Kuching FA if given the opportunity to play in the Premier League,” he said.

The trials will end today and Kuching FA are expected to announce the full list of the squad next week.
