Larry Sng touted as Sarawak’s richest PH MP

KUCHING: Julau MP Larry Sng is reported to be Sarawak’s richest parliamentarian, based on the declaration of assets belonging to him and also his wife, to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

It is said these assets are worth RM11.78 million.

The MACC is said to have been posting reports on its ‘asset declaration portal’, with the aim of enabling members of the government administration and parliamentarians to have their assets displayed to the public, based on the government’s decision to prove the transparency of its leadership.

After Sng, Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu stands next – with his and his wife’s declared assets worth RM8.26 million.

Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin declared his family’s assets to be worth RM4.68 million, while Selangau MP Baru Bian declared his and his wife’s assets at RM3.45 million.

In a Bernama report, the title of the ‘richest MP in Malaysia’ went to Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham who declared total assets amounting to RM75.8 million – the highest recorded among parliamentarians from the government as at Nov 24.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, declared their assets at RM32.35 million – the second highest.

Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and his wife declared their assets at RM23.07 million, while Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad Baharuddin Shah declared that his assets and that of his wife and children amounted to RM15.3 million.

Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), declared the assets belonging to him and his wife to be worth RM14.36 million.

Currently, 115 – or 89.8 per cent of – parliamentarians have declared their assets, while another 13 (10.2 per cent) have yet to do so.

For personnel under the government’s administration, 62 (71.3 per cent) have declared their assets; 25 have yet to declare theirs.
