A jubilant Madonna receives ‘Talent Star Of The Year 2018’ award from Tiong while others looked on.
SIBU: Hard work and perseverance paid off for a Sabahan with the stage name Madonna who took home ‘Talent Star Of The Year 2018’ award.
Madonna, whose real name is Affendy Arrifin, from Kota Kinabalu. outshone 19 other finalist at the grand finale of Borneo Talent Awards (BTA 2018) in Sibu Town square Phase One main stage on Saturday night with live ‘fire eating’ performance.
“I am speechless. This is a dream come true. I dedicated this win to my family, friends and loyal supporters,” said Madonna when met after the prize presentation ceremony.
The entertainer of 20 years who also works as a wedding planner and fashion designer said the cash prize of RM5,000 will be put to good use with part of it saved for a rainy day.
BTA provides the opportunity for participants to showcase their talent in singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, acrobatics, magic, pantomime, mimic or performing arts.
Madonna’s blazing performance wins top spot.
At the final, ‘Identity Crew’ from Sibu grabbed both The Most Popular Talent Award and The Most Entertaining Talent Award winning cash prize totalling RM2,000.
Bernard Kho also from Sibu took The Most Creative Talent Award with cash prize of RM1,000.
The winners for Special Talent Award are Tony Ngu (Miri), Chang Tze How (Sibu), Qas and Friends (Bintulu), Yeo Zhuang Herh (Kuching), Voltage Crew (Sabah), Isabella Wong (Miri) and duo Sound Of My People.
Chairman of Sibu Municipal Council Datuk Tiong Thai King officiated at closing cum prize presentation ceremony.
Organising chairperson of BTA 2018 councillor Wong Hie Ping and managing director of Farley Lau Siew Whye were also present.
The event was organised by Sibu Municipal Council.
