KUCHING: Sarawak police are not resting on their laurels in the fight against illegal gambling activities, with the arrest of 26 individuals including 10 females aged between 18 and 64 years old, following 21 raids carried out last week.

State CID chief SAC Denis Leong Soon Kuai said of the 21 raids, 13 raids were against illegal 4D, while the remaining were against illegal online gambling, police also seized RM2,843 in cash during the operation.

“The raids were conducted in Kuching (2), Padawan (5), Sibu (3), Miri (5), Kota Samarahan (1), Maradong (1), Serian (2), Sarikei (1) and Sri Aman (1),” he said in a statement today.

Leong also noted with the assistance from the Sarawak Energy Berhad, a total of 256 premises found to be engaging in illegal 4D activities had their supply disconnected, since Aug.

Therefore, he urged members of the public to continue to channel information to the CID Hotline at 082-274213.

Meanwhile, on Nov 23, Leong pointed out that a high-powered discussion was held between the police and Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

According to him, the discussion between the State CID and the Chief Executive Officer of Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd Nerine Tan which took place at the State Police Headquarters, was held to discuss methods of monitoring illegal 4D activities and channeling ‘live’ information on illegal 4D activities as well as ways to foster close working rapport.

Also present during the meeting were Deputy General Manager (Sales Operations) Lee Suan Boon, Senior Manager (sales and Administration) R. Jagadis Kumar and Senior Area Sales Executive Helen Tan.
