KOTA TINGGI: An Indonesian illegal immigrant was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday with the murder of a Malaysian man at Ladang Kambau, Tanjung Sedili, near here on Nov 4.
However, no plea was recorded from Zainul Watoni 31, after the charge was read out before Magistrate Mazana Sinin.
Zainul, who is from Lombok, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code with murdering Rizal Muhamad, 37, between 7.15pm and 10pm at a road side near Pintu Palang Blok 5, Petak D12, Ladang Kambau in Tanjung Sedili.
If found guilty, he faced the mandatory death sentence.
Zainul was also charged under Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act with entering the country with no valid documents.
The offence was allegedly committed at the exit to Kampung Perpat, Mukim Sedili here at 8.04pm last Nov 9.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court set Dec 24 for mention to obtain the post mortem report on the victim and also submission of the relevant documents.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Mohd Nasir prosecuted, while Zainul was unrepresented. — Bernama
