Firemen, residents work together to catch 20-foot python

SRI AMAN: It took three firefighters and four civilians to pull out a python from a hole in the ground at a neighbourhood near here yesterday.

It is said that prior to that, the snake – measuring 20 feet (over 6m) in length and 16cm in diameter– had strangled and killed a pet dog at one of the house along Jalan Kejatau near here.

According to Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, they despatched firefighters to the neighbourhood following a distress call at 2.42pm.

“The firefighters and local residents worked together to retrieve the python, which had sneaked into a hole in the ground after being chased away by other residents.

The operation ended at 3.57pm,” said the spokesperson.
