Inner Wheel Club Miri aims to organise more activities

MIRI: Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Miri will continue its community outreach programmes next year in line with its objectives to help create a better society besides giving personal service, fostering friendship and consolidating international understanding.

Incoming president for the 2019/2020 term Florence Enau said among the activities to be organised in the first quarter of next year are a talk entitled ‘Empowering Women Young and Old’ scheduled for end of February, raising funds  for the less fortunate and attending the annual general meeting (AGM) of the International Inner Wheel District 331 in Sabah in March.

“With more new members joining us, we hoped to organise more community-based activities,” she said during the IWC Miri AGM-cum-Christmas Party held at her house on Sunday night.

She added: “For this year, at the recent charity Christmas Bazaar held at Piasau Boat Club, we managed to raise over RM1,000 for Miri Mental Health Association  and we also donated RM500 towards the Beach Youth Festival held from Nov 29 – Dec 2.” said Florence

Florence took over as president from Annie Tan while Cecilia Sman (vice president), Heilda Amer (secretary), Bharathi Anand (treasurer) and the committee members are Regina Teng, Zorah Kassim, Christy Lipang and Frances Fernandez.

Dayang Salwa Ibrahim was appointed the auditor while Marie Trinnah LM
Estiva remained as an editor for International Inner Wheel District 331.

Members also exchanged Christmas presents with one another at the gathering.
