KUCHING: Police have established that no foul play was involved in the death of man found in a storm drain along Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub on Monday.

Sarawak CID chief SAC Denis Leong said a post-mortem conducted at Sarawak General Hospital revealed that the death of Mohamad Isham Ibrahim, 28, from Kampung Sageng, Simunjan was due to drowning.

“Preliminary investigation revealed no criminal elements or signs of physical injury.  The case is classified as sudden death,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Leong said the victim was discovered by a man who noticed a stench coming from the storm drain while looking for a spot to fish in the area.
