Baru Bian

KUCHING: A reliable Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) inside source disclosed to The Borneo Post the incumbent PKR Sarawak chairman Baru Bian has received an overwhelming mandate from the party’s branches to retain his post.

The source said Baru has secured the support of 21 branches out of the 27 branches which attended  the party’s closed door meeting at a leading hotel here yesterday.

This has given him an unassailable lead over his challenger believed to be Miri MP Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng who had earlier declared he would run for the post as only two branches did not attend the meeting yesterday.

PKR president Datuk Anwar Ibrahim earlier told the press that the Sarawak chairman post would only be announced today but  Baru’s retention of his party post is a fait accompli.
