MIRI: Members of the public particularly senior citizens are reminded to be extra careful as there are now many types of scams preying on victims via social media.
Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting warned the people not to easily fall prey to such scams.
“Besides love scam, there are many types of scams now especially through social media where you need to be more careful.
“It is because most of these scams are aimed at your money,” he stated when officiating at Sarawak Government Pensioners Association (PPKS) Miri branch’s Roadshow at Pustaka Miri yesterday.
For those who wanted to make an investment, Ting advised them to look for reliable financial institutions such banks.
On the roadshow event, he encouraged more government retirees yet to sign up as PPKS members to do so to enable them to enjoy various benefits.
“Being a retiree, it doesn’t mean that you have to shut yourself from the surrounding community.
“Instead, there is still a place for you to continue to chip in your contribution by sharing your working experience.
By joining the association, you will be able to participate in social activities which are good for your physical and mental health development.”
