KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Creating Millionaires Among Young Women Entrepreneurs (CreaM@YWE) program should be continued in 2019, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau.

Tangau, also State Trade and Industry Minister, pointed out that his ministry had put eligible CreaM@YWE participants’ grant requests into consideration so more women in the state could expand their business products and chains.

He addedthat  the ministry had also sponsored the program’s participants in a few expos such as Cosmobeauty Seoul in South Korea, Borneo International Halal Showcase in Indonesia, Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show in Serdang and Sabah Local Products Exhibition and Sales Program 2018 at Kompleks Karamunsing here.

“I also strongly support that the second and third group of CreaMers will be able to be implemented next year so more young Sabah women entrepreneurs will turn into more knowledgeable entrepreneurs and have entrepreneurial characteristics that will succeed to become millionaires within three or five years of the program.

“Continue the quest to create the successful young women group in Sabah especially, and Malaysia in general,” said Tangau, whose speech was delivered by assistant minister Ben Chong, during the inaugural CreaM@YWE Graduation ceremony in Tanjung Aru here yesterday.

“We need to continue to ensure that women are always ready to prepare themselves for the ever-expanding entrepreneurial environment in line with today’s technological developments,” he emphasized.

Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) chairman Datuk Dr Tarsiah TZ Zaman said 40 women, aged between 18 and 35, accepted their certificates during the program’s first graduation ceremony here yesterday.

Participants of the program, launched September 23, 2018, took six months to finish their Edu-CreaM@YWE training, which involved eight successful Sabah mentors.

The program intended to create more women game-changers and job creators amongst the selected CreaMers.

Agencies that were involved in the program include the Trade and Industry Ministry, Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Majlis Amanah Rakyat Sabah, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), SIRIM, Sabah Companies Commission Of Malaysia (SSM), Yayasan Usaha Maju, SMECORP, MARDI, MATRADE, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), MYIPO, JHEAINS, Bank Negara Malaysia, MDEC, INSKEN and Malaysian Innovation Agency.

Five state-bred products, namely Dayang Arnilah Ag Arshad’s stingless bee honey product, Celarise Nisko’s QAQAGOJES Beauty Shine Shampoo, Rina Joyce Dilliam’s array of Mami local food products, Jalina Jahari’s Yuly tapioca snacks, and Nasriah Abdullah’s Adhwa food products, were amongst those launched at the ceremony.
