The Royal Brunei Airlines aircraft landed at KIA yesterday, returning to service flights between Brunei and Kuching after a five year absence.

KUCHING: Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) will be returning to service flights between Kuching and Brunei, with the first flight after a five year absence landing at Kuching International Airport (KIA) from Brunei International Airport at 11:45pm yesterday.

On-board were Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and the ministry’s permanent secretary Hii Chang Kee.

Welcoming the passengers of the RB flight at KIA were Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

“I hope tourists from China will be able to explore Sarawak while on their way to Brunei with this route revival,” he said.

With a duration of one hour and 15 minutes only, the revival of the flight is expected to stimulate the inflow of visitors between Brunei and Kuching – providing a vital link to connect a wider region of Borneo island.

The flights from Brunei to Kuching will be serviced by RB A320 aircrafts with two weekly flights and increased to four weekly flights from Feb 3, 2019 onward.
