Mobile app that links customers with repairmen launched

KUCHING: Sarawak’s first mobile application that connects customers with repairmen, known as i-fix, has been launched.

Developed by Trasso Sdn Bhd (Trasso), the app is now available for both iOS and Android devices.

Apart from the soft launch yesterday, a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between Trasso and iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd (iCube) was signed at iCube Innovation in iCom Square here – aimed at promoting, marketing and developing the app further.

“Sarawak’s innovators Trasso, in collaboration with innovative business incubator iCube, has rolled out the services of i-fix to Sarawak. The i-fix is a multi-platform system that makes it easy for customers to post problems that they have around their homes, offices or shops such as leaky pipes, faulty wiring and plastering, and source for direct repairs and solutions conveniently,” Trasso founder and director Derek Chee told reporters at the event yesterday.

According to iCube founder and chairman Dato Patrick Liew, this is a wonderful invention to seek for iCube’s larger market support as the application resolves problems faced by the masses.

Liew also commented that maintenance and repair works, big or small, are needed all around; now with i-fix, it has never been easier as the app connects demand with supply, and vice versa. At the same time, it also creates a fair competition and more business opportunities for local repairmen, he added.

“We are trying to create more entrepreneurs through an app like this, as well as to add convenience for the public to seek handymen. With i-fix, one can take a photo of the faulty area(s) in need of repairs; the app will then notify registered repairmen in the area to submit their individual estimates for customers to choose from. Customers and repairmen can also further communicate through i-fix’s chatting platform for the repairs to take place,” said Liew.

With negotiations and agreement all recorded in one app, this also helps reduce and avoid any possible future disputes as i-fix aims to create equal opportunities for repairmen to find jobs.

The fair and competitive platform will drive towards creating high-quality standards for the industry, empowering both the repairmen and their customers.

“The i-fix will completely revolutionise the digital repair economy in Kuching, building a steady income of jobs for all repairmen as well as putting Kuching at the forefront of the advancing digital economy of Sarawak. The app is about creating opportunities and putting everyone, no matter how big or small a company, on equal footing,” said Chee.

There are currently more than 60 registered vendors offering their services via i-fix including Home Deco, Wee Hua Boo Trading Sdn Bhd, Geo Construction, iMetal, Meraki Design & Build, and Standard Kitchen.

The innovative app goes beyond providing just repair works – customers may also source for assistance on services such as painting and cleaning. As such, Trasso invites more companies providing services of these types to sign up with i-fix and be part of this catalyst transforming Sarawak’s digital economy.
