Special operation to eradicate rats

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Christina Liew will launch the Rat Eradication Special Operation at Bandaran Berjaya on Saturday (Jan 12) beginning at 7am until 10am.

It is organised by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) with the

support of N15 Api-Api Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) in the interest of environmental health.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the

gotong-royong activity. Among the participants will be civil servants, hotel and bank staff, students and members of non-governmental organisations. The meeting point is in front of

King Park Hotel. Refreshments will be served.

Mayor Datuk Hj Nordin Siman, who led a four-member delegation to pay a courtesy call on Liew on Thursday, extended the invitation to the ministers. Others were Deputy Director-General Noorliza Awang Alip, Director of Community Well-being Department, Anidah Ag Said and Director of Corporate Affairs Department, Syron Tunggolou.

Christina, who is organising chairperson of the forthcoming inaugural

State-level Chinese New Year Open House celebration, discussed the

preparations with the Mayor and Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, William Baya.

It is scheduled to be held on the first day of Chinese New Year (February 5) at the Sabah Hakka Hall in Kota Kinabalu.

“We will extend our full support and co-operation to ensure success of the event,” Nordin assured.

Also present were the Political Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Vivien Lee,  Api-Api Community Development Leader, Grace Lee, and ministry officials.
