Asian TV Awards 2019 ends with cheers, potential tourism booster

KUCHING: The two-day 23rd Asian Television Awards (ATA) ended in a high note with a public concert held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here yesterday night, thrilling the energetic crowd to zealous cheers.

Featuring special performances from prominent artists such as Pinanak Sentah, Winnie K, SF9, Via Vallen, Trong Hieu and Qu Wan Ting, the crowd took the opportunity to immerse themselves in a night filled with fun, excitement and music.

“The (ATA 2019) awards are good testimonies on the promising future of Asian programming standards and potential, while encouraging television producers from Asia to excel further in order to enter the global stage,” said Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during the ATA 2019 gala dinner on Jan 11.

In conjunction of Visit Sarawak Campaign 2019, events such as the ATA 2019 is expected to be able to boost the local tourism industry and attracts myriad of stars and international acclaimed talents to the state.

The prestigious event also marked the city’s maiden hosting of the ATA, welcoming over 300 international delegates in the film and entertainment industry while being live broadcast to over 20 countries.

The ATA 2019 was organised by ATV Awards Sdn Bhd with the support of the state Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports.

Launched in 1996, the ATA aims to be a one-of-a-kind event within the Asia Region – upholding a prestigious reputation of showcasing quality television production.

It awards results are determined by an expert panel of 50 judges from across the region, and its final results are tabulated and audited by international auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
