SANDAKAN: A Perodua Axia parked in front of a shoplot ended up crashing into the shop at Bandar Indah Jaya Mile 4 when a Toyota Hilux driver lost control of the wheel and knocked the car from behind about 5.45 am yesterday.
No casualty was reported as the shop was empty at the time of the incident.
According to Sandakan Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek, the driver of the Hilux was not injured in the incident.
Both drivers of the Hilux and Axia as well as the shop owner have lodged a report to the traffic police regarding the incident.
Earlier, a Chinese daily reported on its Facebook page that there was a police vest on the passenger seat of the Hilux.
This caused the locals to come up with various speculations as it was written with no clear information and without the confirmation of the police.
Abdul Fuad reminded the local media to verify information related to police cases first before publishing news that may cause a stir among the public.
