SARIKEI: A special committee has been set up here to identify those eligible for the Sarawak government’s house repair programme.

Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh said the Sarawak government has allocated RM1 million this year for each Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) assemblyperson to implement the programme in their respective constituencies.

During a meeting with committee members – comprising mostly village and longhouse chiefs, and community leaders – the Kuala Rajang assemblyman advised them to be sincere in ensuring the programme benefits the target group.

He said priority would be accorded to urgent cases, while other eligible applicants would be considered under a new allocation in future.

Len Talif also suggested that the house repair projects be carried out on a gotong -royong basis to save on workmanship costs.
