KOTA KINABALU: Four more days remand for two contractors to assist the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation of alleged false documents submission to obtain tenders for projects from the Sabah Education Department.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie made the order of remand extension on both men aged 32 and 59 at the request of the MACC investigating officer Mohd Faliq Basiruddin, in her chambers, today.

The remand took effect from today until January 23.

According to Mohd Faliq, there were few things to be done in the investigation which required them to apply for the remand extension.

Meanwhile, eight men, who were under the same investigation, were released from their remand by the magistrate with a bail of RM8,000 each.

They were also ordered to report themselves to the MACC office once a month.

All of the 10 contractors were investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

On Tuesday, thirteen contractors, including three women were remanded for three and six days for allegedly submitting false documents.

The suspects were alleged to have obtained tenders, worth up to millions of ringgit, since 2016, using the alleged false documents.
