BINTULU: The leased occupancy rate of tHe Spring Bintulu Shopping Mall is currently at 80 per cent, says Parkcity tHe Spring (Bintulu) Sdn Bhd (PTSB) chairman Troy Yaw.

Speaking at the grand opening of the mall officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg Friday, Yaw said the project was not an easy undertaking especially when they had to work within such a short span of time.

“The secret of our success is the lasting, trusting, cooperative and accommodative joint venture (JV) partners that we have.

“It is easy to be nice and polite to each other when everything is running smoothly.

“However when things get tough, the JV partnership is put to the test and we too had a few of those moments,” he said.

The new RM300-million mall is situated on 10 acres of land with a total built-up area of 950,000 square feet, nett lettable area of 388,000 square feet, 132 stores and 1,039 carpark spaces.

tHe Spring Bintulu is developed by PTSB, a joint venture company between Sarawak Land (Kemena Park) Sdn Bhd (SLKP) which is a member of Samling Group, and Benlong Sdn Bhd which is a member of PE and Pansar Group of Companies.

It is under the management of tHe Spring Management Services.

Yaw said Samling Group will continue playing its part in bridging the gap in regard to standard of living between East and West Malaysia.

“We in Samling should do and will continue to do our part to gradually bridge and narrow the gap between the East and the West, and I strongly believe that there is so much more we can do and contribute for the land that we all love so dearly,” he added.

As a Sarawakian, he said the spirit to reach for the stars should be instilled in the minds and souls of the people.

“We are duty-bound to ensure that the Land of the Hornbills continues to soar high.

“This is more than just an obligation, it is our mission.” Yaw said he was looking forward to the many future years of close and wonderful working relationship with the team of people who aim for the sky, and achieve what they say they will achieve.

“I must say that today we have achieved our target with flying colours.

“I did also eventually find my tonnes of gold, in the form of lasting friendship, trust and honour,” he added.
