KOTA KINABALU: A couple was found dead inside a Perodua Kenari car, believed due to carbon monoxide poisoning, at a parking lot of a shopping mall here this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Hanafi b Marlin, 23, and Marcella Nur Anis Ahmadi, 20.
They were found unconscious at the front seat of the vehicle by member of the public around 3am on Jan 25.
City police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said police investigation at the scene believed the couple were taking a nap inside the car before they were found by member of the public.
“Forensic police who carried out an investigation at the scene concluded that the victims died due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
“Police investigation at the scene also did not find any foul play involved but we are still carrying out a thorough investigation,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under sudden death report.
Habibi therefore remind public to refrain from sleeping or taking a nap inside vehicle with its engine running to avoid unwanted incident from happening.
