KUCHING: Sarawak are on the verge of signing Brazilian Pedro Henrique Dias De Amorim to fill their import slots for the Premier League.

Sarawak’s coaching staff and technical team have been impressed with the 1.86-metre centre-back midfielder, who outperformed France’s Zady Moise Gnenegbe during selection trials.

Team manager Hamzah Brahim said the management is still finalising the contract with the Brazilian.

“After having a discussion with the coaching and management team, we have agreed to take Pedro,” he said yesterday.

“Pedro meets all the criteria and is very committed in assisting teammates during matches.

“And in the recent friendly matches, he showed quality on the pitch and it is very convincing for the squad,” he added.

Pedro had started in all three pre-season matches against Selangor United, PDRM and Melaka United recently.

Hamzah also believed Pedro’s experience would help strengthen Sarawak’s defensive line this season.

He has played for several clubs in his home country and was signed with Highlands Park in the South African League before heading to Sarawak.

Pedro will join other players in the team’s unveiling ceremony at Mydin Petra Jaya Hypermarket today (Saturday).

Hamzah called on supporters to attend the event and meet the Crocs’ latest line-up for the new Premier League season.
