Jobless man fined for threatening his father

MIRI: A Magistrate’s Court here yesterday fined an unemployed man RM1,700 in default two months in jail for threatening his father.

Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad convicted Boon Chung Hua on his own guilty under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

The Section provides for up to seven years in jail, a fine, or both.

Boon had threatened to kill his father Boon Tze Min, 68, at 5.30am on Jan 23 at their family house in Jalan Riam.

In a separate case, Boon claimed trial to a charge of housebreaking and theft.

He allegedly broke into a house belonging to Khusairy Abdullah, 54, at Taman Jelita Phase 3 in Taman Tunku to steal a 27-inch television at 4am on Nov 3, 2018.

Boon was charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 15 years or a fine, or both.

The court set Feb 13 for case management and released Boon on RM2,000 bail in two local sureties.
